Mozart Rules!
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s fortieth symphony is by far my favorite piece of music composition of this time. This was created on July 25, in 1788, in Vienna, Paris.
I enjoy the dramatic feel that is given off and yet how calming it is. Something about this style of music wouldn’t put me to sleep because of it’s intensity. It has slower moments, which feel like a clarity of thoughts, then it almost becomes more progressively anxious. I am relating this based on how I feel when I listen to it. This work connects to the rise of the middle class because it has a sophisticated sound and yet he also wrote comedy which would be more appealing to the Neoclassical era, in which the people were nervous about. Just as the plays of that time had restrictions because of their jokes on politics, I think that Mozart’s music made that era easier for the people and lightened it up a bit.

I completely agree with you on the calming effect this piece had. I have found that I get this from most of Mozart’s music. Even though Mozart’s music was not included in the sequences of Disney’s Fantasia, I still can envision the flowers dancing and pegasus flying to this remarkable compositioin. I like the way the music flows together but still highlights every instrument. I found that I could single out an instrument and still hear the entire piece at the same time.
Did Mozart create this piece for someone in particular, such as nobility, or did he create it for the masses? Do you know where it was first performed?
Overall a great piece to learn about. Thank you.
It seems to make sense how you talk about how the middle class was on the rise with the comedic plays. I agree that with all of the stressing political issues going on at the time had many people unhappy and very unsatisfied about life itself. The way he made music into emotions is something only Mozart can accomplish and change the way middle class works.
